Star Wars: Plo Koon

Here's to the Fighting Sioux.  They swept RPI and Denver winning 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.  They will play Michigan in the night game on April 7th with the winner having the chance to play for the National Title on Saturday April 9th.  Other finalists are Minnesota-Duluth and Notre Dame.

I will be posting more daily for the next couple weeks to get everyone ready for the Frozen Four.

The first first preview of the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.

#1 Yale vs. #4 Air Force

This game is interesting to me since these two teams met back in November.  The split the series and it was Yale's first loss of the season.  AF came from 3 goals down, but also had the help of 10 powerplays.  I would like to think Yale gets upset and AF moves on, but I am also a realist, if Yale plays smart they go on.  AF needs to take the body and make Yale pay and disrupt the finesse game of the Bulldogs if they want to go on.

My pick is Yale 5-2.

#2 Union Dutchmen vs #3 Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs

I have to admit, I have yet to see Union this year so this game is hard for me to predict.  I think Union probably plays a similiar style to most East coast teams and that is more of a Run and Gun style.  If that is the case UMD needs to follow Air Force's advice and take the body.  Let the big 3 of UMD lead the offense and make the Dutchmen pay in the corners.

Coming out of the East Regional I like Duluth winning an offensive shootout 6-5 over Yale.

And with that the University of North Dakota hosts Michigan Tech University.  The Sioux are #1 in the WCHA and National Polls.  The Huskies play like they should be lucky to beat a Bantha.  Stupid Banthafodders.  Click the logo below for more on the matchup.  I will update this weekend with scores.
